GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Dining Service Assistant has responsibility for food preparation and service for ACC Greenhaven Terrace Assisted Living residents. The position is hourly (non-exempt) and reports to the Dining Service Manager.  A minimum of twelve (12) months’ work experience in food preparation and service is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all aspects of food service are completed in a timely manner for Independent & Assisted Living residents.
  • Follows all food service requirements, policies, procedures, applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • May assist the Dining Service Manager with inventory control.
  • Serves meals and snacks as attractively as possible at all times.
  • Preserves the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times.
  • Recognizes and respects the individual resident’s emotional, social, cultural, and religious needs and beliefs.
  • Practices conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready for use.
  • Develops positive relationships with residents, families and frequent visitors.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding information about residents and their families; strives to preserve resident privacy.
  • Attends required in-service and training programs.
  • Demonstrates compliance with applicable ACC policies, procedures and standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be18 years or older; CPR and first aid certified.
  • Fingerprint clearance and submission of Criminal Record Statement is required (LIC508).
  • A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience.
  • Trained & experienced regarding proper selecting, storage and good prep; food safety/handling.
  • Effective English verbal and written communication.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends and AM/PM shifts.
