Job description

The Aircraft Maintenance Procedure Specialist is responsible for creating highly technical procedures used in RHC Technical Publications, including maintenance and repair documentation.

RHC Technical Publications provides critical information to Robinson Helicopter owners, operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure the airworthiness of our aircraft and the safety of the flying public. Because of this, RHC Technical Publications functions as one of the primary points of technical communication with our customers around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create or revise technical procedures based on:
    • Engineering blueprints, process specifications, SBs, and SLs.
    • Vendor and OEM blueprints, STCs, and installation or maintenance manuals, when applicable.
    • Recommended changes from the field.
  • Become a subject matter expert on applicable Robinson Helicopter systems.
  • Consult with Engineers, Technical Support Representatives, shop technicians, and other subject matter experts to ensure the quality and accuracy of procedures.
  • Physically perform or witness the performance of maintenance procedures to validate operations and sequencing in written instructions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting logic creation.
  • Maintain helicopter configuration-specific requirements for installed equipment.
  • Provide highly technical drafts to Technical Writers and provide technical feedback and review to ensure high quality and accuracy of all technical publications.
  • Review RHC Technical Publications for technical accuracy, standardization between applicable helicopter models, and the proper treatment of legacy design.
  • Log all work, research, and status in Jira project management software.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the work.

Note: RHC Technical Publications include Safety Alerts (SAs), Safety Notices (SNs), Service Letters (SLs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Pilot’s Operating Handbooks (POHs), Maintenance Manuals (MMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), and Kit Instructions (KIs).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical background.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong project management, organization, and risk management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of Robinson Helicopter maintenance experience.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or equivalent, or demonstrated excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience developing publications for aircraft such as maintenance manuals, flight manuals, or other technical data.
  • Proficient with technology such as Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, TurboCAD, and SolidWorks.
