Job description

This is a part-time, 12-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Pathways and is located at the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.
JOB DESCRIPTION
John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking an outgoing and goal-driven Admissions Recruiter to join our Admissions Team. The Part-Time Admissions Recruiter will be responsible for recruiting prospective students, promoting JWCC's academic programs, and assisting applicants through the admissions process. The Admissions Recruiter focuses on prospective high school and adult students and requires strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage with students, parents, high school counselors, and community organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Recruit prospective students by providing information on admissions, financial aid, academic programs, and career opportunities.
  • Assist students through the application process, guiding them from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Maintain proactive communication with prospective students to guide them through enrollment.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with high school counselors, community partners, and other local organizations to promote JWCC and its programs and to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of on-campus recruitment events such as open houses, campus tours, recruitment events, and information sessions to showcase JWCC and its programs.
  • Represent JWCC at regional and state recruitment events and conferences, college fairs, community events, and presentations.
  • Support the Admissions Team with some evening and weekend flex hours for events scheduled in advance.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other departments to ensure a seamless admission process for students.
  • Work with the Admission Team to develop and execute recruitment plans to meet enrollment goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress through the admissions process.
  • Stay current on trends in higher education and community college admissions practices, enrollment management, and career development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pathways or Dean of Student Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and knowledge of the community college system is a plus.
  • Preference will be given to those with a proven background in customer service, sales experience, and an ability to track and meet goals.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to large and small groups.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with prospective students, parents, and community partners.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills, with the ability to meet or exceed enrollment goals.
  • Knowledge of career counseling and the ability to guide students in exploring career options.
  • Proven ability to set and meet goals in a target-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with educational programs, admissions processes, and financial aid resources.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and social media platforms.

Work Schedule:
  • Part-time position with a varying schedule not to exceed 29 hours per week.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support student programs or events.
  • Schedule will be determined in collaboration with recruiter and director.
  • Schedule can potentially align with elementary/secondary school day schedule.

SALARY:
  • This is a non-exempt position with an approximate hourly rate of $19.00
