Job description

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the Director of Pathways and is located at JWCC's Workforce Development Center in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.

JOB DESCRIPTION

John Wood Community College is seeking a passionate and student-focused CTE Student Success Coach and Recruiter to support the recruitment and success of students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Trades programs. This role is responsible for providing academic coaching, career guidance, and recruitment efforts to prospective and current students, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and resources needed to achieve their educational and career goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively engage with prospective CTE students, guiding them through the admissions process and providing information on career pathways, technical programs, financial aid, and available resources.
  • Represent JWCC's CTE programs at high school visits, college fairs, community events, and industry gatherings.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for CTE students, assisting with academic planning, career preparation, and opportunities for employment or transfer.
  • Provide individualized support to CTE students, helping them navigate academic challenges, balance coursework, and access campus and community resources.
  • Monitor student progress, including attendance, grades, and program completion, ensuring students remain engaged, eligible, and on track for success.
  • Plan and coordinate campus tours, program-specific visits, and recruitment events tailored to prospective CTE students.
  • Partner with faculty, staff, and industry representatives to align programs with workforce needs and provide a seamless student experience.
  • Adapt responsibilities during peak times to support the Pathways Office and meet student needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, workforce development, or a related field preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in student advising, coaching, recruitment, or career services, preferably in a technical or trades-related field.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Passionate about career and technical education and understands the unique needs of CTE student.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to large and small groups.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with prospective students, parents, and community partners.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills, with the ability to meet or exceed enrollment goals.
  • Knowledge of career counseling and the ability to guide students in exploring career options.
  • Proven ability to set and meet goals in a target-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with educational programs, admissions processes, and financial aid resources.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and social media platforms.

Work Schedule:

  • The standard work schedule for this position is 36 hours per week!
  • Hours may vary based on departmental needs and may include evening shifts.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential to accommodate the needs of the position and ensure effective support for students.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support student programs or events.

SALARY:

  • This is an exempt position with an estimated annual salary range of $35,568.00 - $37,000.00.
