It is no accident that we are recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana for 10 consecutive years.
Internally, we believe in building strong teams from the top down with a focus on values in our Model-Coach-Care philosophy. Our leadership are encouraged and trained to model good practices, mentor other employees and each other, and show empathy and caring in all interactions. Moser Consulting believes in equal opportunity for all people and is committed to enabling a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. We foster a spirit of unity that respects the remarkable individuality of everyone's culture, history, and service.
Description
We are seeking a Principal Network Architect to join our Tier 3 consulting team as a technical leader and client-facing expert. This principal consultant role requires a seasoned professional who can bridge the gap between client business needs and technical implementation while elevating the capabilities of our engineering teams.
As our Principal Network Architect, you will serve as the primary technical consultant for complex client engagements. You'll conduct discovery sessions to understand client environments, identify pain points, and gather detailed requirements. Your ability to listen, analyze, and ask the right questions will be critical to uncovering the root causes of client challenges and opportunities for improvement.
A core responsibility is translating client needs into comprehensive architectural diagrams and technical documentation. You'll design scalable, secure, and efficient network solutions that align with both technical requirements and business objectives. Your designs must be clear and detailed enough that our Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers can implement them successfully with minimal ambiguity.
You'll serve as the technical escalation point for our engineering teams, providing expert guidance on complex network challenges. Beyond solving immediate problems, you'll mentor and develop our Tier 1 and Tier 2 resources through knowledge sharing, technical reviews, and hands-on coaching. Your leadership will directly improve team efficiency, capabilities, and confidence in handling increasingly complex scenarios.
This position requires deep expertise across our core technology stack-Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco routing and switching, Fortinet FortiGate security appliances, Aruba wireless and switching solutions, Juniper network platforms, and Ubiquiti UniFi infrastructure. You must be able to design integrated solutions that leverage the strengths of each platform, understand the interoperability between these technologies, and recommend the right tool for each client scenario. You'll work across multiple vendor platforms daily, designing data center architectures, SD-WAN solutions, security frameworks, cloud network integrations, and wireless systems.
Your consultative approach and communication skills are as important as your technical expertise. You'll present solutions to both technical teams and executive stakeholders, adapting your message to your audience. You'll build trust with clients through your ability to understand their business and deliver practical, implementable solutions.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic consulting environment, managing multiple projects while maintaining quality and attention to detail. You're passionate about not just solving problems, but also teaching others how to solve them. You stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, bringing innovative thinking to client challenges.
This is an opportunity to make a significant impact-shaping client network infrastructures, developing the next generation of network engineers, and establishing best practices that will scale across our organization.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of progressive network architecture and engineering experience.
  • Expert-level knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing enterprise-scale network architectures.
  • Proficiency with network diagramming and documentation tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io).
  • Strong understanding of data center networking, virtualization, and storage networks.
  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies and WAN optimization.
  • Knowledge of network security principles including firewalls, VPN, segmentation, and zero-trust architectures.
  • Proven experience with multiple platforms from our core technology stack: Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet (FortiGate), Aruba, Juniper, and Ubiquiti (UniFi), Arista.
  • Understanding of Cloud Networking best practices and architecture for Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Deep expertise in at least 3 of the following: Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco routing/switching, FortiGate routing/switching/firewall, Aruba wireless/switching, Juniper routing/switching, UniFi infrastructure, Arista Networking, Wireless Access Points.
  • Proven ability to conduct client discovery sessions and translate requirements into technical designs.
  • Experience analyzing client pain points and developing actionable solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience with junior technical staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
  • Ability to create clear technical specifications for implementation teams.
  • Project management capabilities and ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements
Preferred Skills
  • CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent expert-level certification
  • CCNP, JNCIP, or higher-level professional certifications
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
  • Fortinet NSE 4, NSE 7, or NSE 8 certification
  • Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP) or Aruba Certified Design Professional (ACDP)
  • Cisco CCIE or CCNP Enterprise certification
  • Juniper JNCIS or JNCIP certification
  • Experience architecting multi-vendor environments integrating our technology stack
  • Cloud networking experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) with relevant certifications
  • Wireless network design experience (enterprise and high-density environments)
  • Load balancing and application delivery controller experience
  • Security certifications (CISSP, CCSP)
  • Experience with network automation and infrastructure as code (Python, Ansible, Terraform)
