Job description

Job Summary
This position requires the applicant to have working knowledge of AV over IP system designs and concepts within a large corporate enterprise environment. Must have good AV and IP networking skills as well as ability to setup lab mock-up of solutions to test and document AV over IP solutions for global enterprise deployment. Primary role will be to work with internal engineering teams and third party manufacturers / vendors to design, document, and certify equipment for deployment which will include setup and documentation of lab equipment to test and certify IP video solutions.
System solutions will include IPTV head-end design and signal distribution over campuses across the globe and AV over IP solutions for switching & processing and video distribution within conference centers, auditoriums including AV control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Creation of design documentation in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, and CAD.
    • Ability to work in a large, complex corporate environment. Must be able to work independently and with others who may be in different groups and remotely located.
    • Work with security teams to verify that components and end to end design solution meets corporate security requirements. This can and will include network security & compliance, integration with enterprise corporate active directory, secure integration with videoconferencing systems and services, video streaming services, and digital signage.
    • Work with network design team, network security team, AD integration team, implementation and operations teams to develop secure, supportable solutions.
    • Manage weekly conference calls to manage progress and drive certification solutions to resolution.
    • Should have working knowledge and familiarity with industry leading solutions from Haivision, Kaltura, Zoom, Cisco, Polycom, Extron, AMX, etc.
    • Create documentation
    • Strong System Integration skills with external interfaces including access network system are a plus. End to end system requirement definition for both signaling and content delivery is an essential part of the Systems Engineer function. The candidate will be responsible to perform research and development on the overall IPTV and AVIP solutions to content delivery and value added applications to be integrated with the IPTV distribution system.
    • Knowledge of multiple DRM technologies for over the top content delivery is a plus. Installation, operation of headend equipment is also required. This includes distribution of off-air, satellite, studio feed, and locally-originated programming to the network.
    • Performs research and development on the overall IPTV solution.
    • Responsible for systems planning, requirement definition, designing, and integration of the solution, troubleshooting and training on the Haivision IPTV solutions
    • Operates equipment such as Intel based servers, Microsoft server technology, Ethernet IP switching/routing equipment, Secure Digital IPTV technologies
    • Writes technical documentation to support research
    • Will have a detailed understanding of AVIP systems permitting the individual to design, troubleshoot and maintain IPTV systems
    • Analyzes and troubleshoot problems for quick resolution in collaboration with network operations center
    • Maintains accurate inventory of headend network elements
    • Measures network performance and diagnose network problems using measurement and diagnostic tools and methods
    • Reads and comprehends system maps, plans, and other visuals related to communications service

  • Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and will always present themselves in a professional manner

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • At least 3-5years' experience in field
  • Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed
  • Occasionally requires direction in several aspects of the work. Able to perform some of the complex tasks within the job function.
  • Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to the most complex aspects of the job
