Location: Atlanta, GA (Onsite)
Duration: 3–5 Years

Job Summary

Southern Company Services is seeking a Network Security Administrator II – Firewall to support and maintain the enterprise firewall infrastructure. This position is responsible for reviewing firewall rule requests, analyzing security logs, performing firewall policy optimization, supporting security audits, and ensuring compliance with enterprise network security standards.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, strong knowledge of firewall policy management, traffic analysis, and network security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

· Review and validate firewall rule requests and security exceptions.

· Analyze firewall logs and network traffic for troubleshooting and incident response.

· Maintain and optimize firewall policies, rules, NAT, address objects, and security zones.

· Perform firewall policy cleanup, audits, and remediation activities.

· Develop reports and dashboards to track firewall usage and operational performance.

· Support firewall governance, documentation, and operational runbooks.

· Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to maintain a secure enterprise environment.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field, or 3+ years of relevant experience.

· 3–5 years of network security or firewall administration experience.

· Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Panorama.

· Strong understanding of:

o Firewall policy management

o Security zones

o NAT

o Access control policies

o Application-based firewall rules

· Experience reviewing firewall logs, network traffic, and supporting incident response.

· Ability to assess security requests and evaluate risk.

· Relevant certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, Security+, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with SSL Decryption and security exception management.

· Firewall policy cleanup and rule recertification experience.

· Familiarity with Splunk, Power BI, Excel, or Panorama reporting.

· Experience creating dashboards and operational metrics.
