Producer / Video Editor
Location: Alexandria, VA (On-Site)
Travel: Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on project needs.

OVERVIEW
Red Carrot is seeking a Producer / Video Editor to join a team supporting our federal government client. The Producer / Video Editor will lead all stages of video production, from pre-production planning and filming to editing and final delivery. They will collaborate with clients and team members to develop creative concepts, operate cameras, and ensure high-quality video content. The role also involves managing video editing, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to content strategy while maintaining production equipment and providing project reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Video Production
  • Lead the production of video content, including pre-production planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and directing.
  • Collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to develop video concepts that meet project objectives.
  • Manage the filming process, including setting up equipment, directing on-camera talent, and ensuring that all shots meet the required standards.
  • Operate and manage FX3, A7IV, and A6600 mirrorless cameras effectively to capture high-quality video footage.
Video Editing
  • Edit raw footage into polished final products, including cutting, color grading, sound design, and adding graphics and effects.
  • Work closely with the creative team to ensure that edits meet the desired look and feel of the project.
  • Ensure all videos are delivered in the correct format and meet technical specifications for broadcast or online distribution.
Photography
  • Perform light photography duties as needed, capturing still images that complement video content.
  • Edit and process photos to meet project requirements, ensuring they align with the overall visual style of the organization.
Technical Operations
  • Operate and maintain video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and editing software.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise during the production and post-production process.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in video production and editing.
  • Manage inventory control, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and in proper working condition.
  • Oversee the check-out and check-in process for all production equipment, maintaining accurate records and ensuring equipment is returned on time and in good condition.
Content Strategy
  • Contribute to the development of content strategies that enhance the organization's brand and message.
  • Assist in planning and creating content for various platforms, including television, online, and social media.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with other producers, editors, and graphic designers to ensure cohesive storytelling and branding.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and creative working environment.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on project progress, including any challenges and solutions implemented.
  • Maintain organized records of all project files, edits, final versions, and equipment inventories for easy retrieval and archiving.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in video production and editing, preferably in a broadcast or similar environment.
  • Proven track record of managing video projects from concept through completion.
  • Experience with the FX3 camera, light photography duties, and inventory management is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear.
  • Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software (e.g., After Effects) is a plus.
Creative Skills
  • Excellent storytelling abilities, with a strong eye for visual composition.
  • Ability to develop creative concepts that resonate with target audiences.
Communication Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and communicate effectively with clients.
Organizational Skills
