As a valued contributor to our team, you will consult with team members and management on managing communications and/or negotiations between Fannie Mae and clients regarding loans and other investments.


THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Multifamily Underwriting - Principal role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Review Lender loan underwriting packages and set the loan terms for Multifamily loans prior to their acquisition.
  • Calibrate with your team on underwriting Multifamily deals and reviewing the issuance of securities to customers.
  • Gather and assess the strengths, risks, and mitigants of each loan to determine the supportable loan sizing parameters while maintaining credit risk standards and adhering to guidance limitations.
  • Confer with management on potential risks and costs involved with providing services to a customer.
  • Review and recommend changes to the review process to determine lending decisions.
  • Recommend changes to process related to issuance of securities or other financial loans to the customer.
  • Serve in a team leadership role and use your skills to identify current, emerging, and potential risks within the execution.
  • Work closely with the regional Senior Director to enhance the credit team's execution of loan underwriting reviews.
  • Help identify execution enhancements within the credit team and lead the implementation of changes by engaging with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a subject matter expertise in multiple credit-related areas and lead special initiatives across the front-end of the business.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experience

  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in industry and GSE Multifamily Underwriting practices
  • Expert in identifying the strengths, risks, and mitigants relating to Multifamily loans
  • Demonstrated relationship and project management skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with various Multifamily property types
  • Specialized expert knowledge in at least one area of Multifamily loan underwriting
  • Demonstrates curiosity and adaptability by learning and responsibly applying new techniques, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience in Fannie Mae DUS underwriting standards, products, and tolerances.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities, strong relationship management skills, and an ability to offer effective solutions to complicated issues
  • Ability to lead the planning, execution, and related training for complex solutions
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for communicating complicated transactions to senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners
  • Adept at delivering clear and concise presentations tailored to diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Advanced business writing skills
