What is a junior system admin?

Junior System Admins, also known as junior system administrators, are entry-level IT professionals responsible for supporting and maintaining an organization’s computer systems and networks. They assist in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware and software, monitoring system performance, and ensuring security protocols are followed. Typically, they work under the supervision of senior system administrators and help with tasks such as user account management, backups, and routine system updates. Familiarity with system administration tools such as Active Directory, ticketing systems, and basic scripting languages is commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role.
