Position Title: Software Tester (Manual & Regression Testing)
Location: Vienna, VA (Hybrid)
Clearance Requirements: None
Position Status: Contract
Pay Rate: $36 - $45 per hour
Position Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Software Tester to join a high-performing technology team supporting enterprise applications within a large financial services environment. This role is responsible for executing manual functional testing, regression testing, and validating software enhancements to ensure applications meet business, technical, and quality standards before production deployment.
The ideal candidate has experience testing enterprise applications, creating and executing test cases, collaborating with developers and business stakeholders, and identifying software defects throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience within regulated industries such as banking or financial services is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing for new features, enhancements, and production fixes.
  • Design, create, maintain, and execute detailed test cases and test scenarios based on business and system requirements.
  • Analyze business requirements, technical specifications, and user stories to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Identify, document, reproduce, and track software defects using defect management tools.
  • Validate interfaces, system integrations, reports, and data accuracy across multiple applications.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
  • Perform re-testing and regression testing following bug fixes and system updates.
  • Create and maintain test data required for executing test scenarios.
  • Maintain accurate testing documentation, execution logs, defect reports, and testing metrics.
  • Review user documentation and training materials to ensure accuracy following system changes.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities when required.
  • Certify software readiness prior to production deployment.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, project meetings, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills/Education
  • Experience in Software Testing, Quality Assurance (QA), or Software Quality Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience performing manual testing, functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and system testing.
  • Experience creating and maintaining comprehensive test cases and test documentation.
  • Proficiency with testing and defect management tools such as:
  • HP ALM (Application Lifecycle Management)
  • HPE Unified Functional Testing (UFT)
  • JIRA
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify root causes of software defects and work collaboratively toward resolution.
  • Experience working closely with developers, business analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience within the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with operational risk, regulatory compliance, and controls.
  • Experience with automation testing using HPE UFT or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
