What you'll be doing

You'll be joining CIBC's Corporate Employee Technology Department. You'll be at the heart of CIBC's digital transformation, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale mobile projects involving multiple back-end systems.As an Application Consultant, you'll assemble, implement and maintain easy, flexible, and personalized solutions that enhance the client experience across both iOS and Android.You'll lead the planning and strategy for the technical design, development and integration of these applications.

CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 2-3 days per week on-site at our Chicago location, while other days may be remote.

How You'll Succeed

  • Full Stack Development: Develop and maintain applications using .NET (C#), SQL Server, ReactJS, and UI frameworks such as Telerik or similar. Integrate data platforms including Databricks, Talend, and SSIS for ETL and analytics solutions

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions across multiple platforms and technologies. Drive best practices in software architecture, coding standards, and quality assurance. Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to their technical growth.

  • AI Solutions: Design and implement AI-driven features leveraging foundation AI models. Contribute to AI model fine-tuning and deployment in production environments. Collaborate with data scientists to integrate AI/ML capabilities into core products.

  • Strategic Development & Execution:Perform and coordinate complex solution design activities. Understand the business requirements and translate them into system and application design that is aligned with our technology roadmap.Design and document the technical functionality, infrastructure, interfaces and integrations. Lead the design of cost-effective and innovative solutions to meet both business objectives and the goal of operational efficiency.

  • Strategy and Roadmap:Contribute to technology roadmaps that are aligned with the bank's vision, strategy, and business objectives. Lead multiple complex technology solutions while maintaining consistency across the platform, adopting best practices and pushing forward continuous improvements

  • Stakeholder Management:Act as thesolutionlead and interface with the project teams by driving and moderating design review sessions to walk stakeholders through and ensure that the overall design aligns with business requirements as well as architectural directions. Support and mentor junior designers and developers through knowledge sharing, collaboration and effective problem solving

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging technologies, especially in AI, cloud, and data engineering. Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and automation. Demonstrate leadership qualities and interest in managing a team of engineers in the future. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred).

  • Expertise in:

    • .NET (C#) application development

    • SQL Server database design and optimization

    • Data technology stack, including ETL, Azure SQL and REST APIs

    • Talend and SSIS for ETL processes

    • ReactJS and modern UI frameworks (Telerik or similar)

    • Exposure to Integration and BI Tools such as Tableau, Cognos or Power BI

  • AI Exposure:

    • Experience working with foundation AI models (e.g., GPT, BERT, Llama, etc.)

    • Understanding of AI model fine-tuning and customization

    • Familiarity with integrating AI/ML solutions into enterprise applications

  • Significant automation experience for minimizing manual processes

  • Solid understanding of cloud technologies and tools

  • Expert communications with c-suite and key technical partners for development tollgates and governance forums

  • Able to document and tell a 'story' for a technical recommendation from framework to feature level

  • Outstanding DevOps practices for environment management and integrity, security, pipeline management, code integrity, compliance, release management

  • Solid execution of practices for Jira/Azure DevOps Taxonomies, Story Writing, Story Pointing, Velocity measurement

  • Interest and potential to manage and lead a team

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $110,000-$125,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
