The job details are as follows:OCLC's Cloud Library team is seeking an experienced AWS Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable cloud-based applications that serve libraries and their users around the world. This role requires a strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to contribute across the software development lifecycle-from architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
The ideal candidate is a full-stack engineer who thrives in a cloud-native environment, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and can provide technical leadership while partnering closely with product, engineering, and operations teams.
Full-Stack development experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Software Design & Development

  • Design, develop, andmaintainfull-stackweb applicationsusing Node.jsand TypeScripton the backend and Svelteon the frontend.

  • Build high-performance, system-level services and tools usingRustwhere reliability and speed are critical

  • Contribute toReact Nativemobile features and collaborate with mobile-focused engineers when needed

  • Design, develop, and administerPostgreSQLdatabases, including schema design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and routine maintenance

  • Manage andmaintainUnix/Linuxserver environments, including scripting, process management, and system configuration

  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Strongproficiencyin one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.

  • Experience working with relational database technologies.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with cloud-native application architecture and distributed systems.
