Fleet Response is seeking a qualified Software Development Engineer in Test I (SDET I) to join our Information Technology team. This is a hybrid position based out of our corporate office in Hudson, Ohio. Team members are expected to work on-site as needed for collaboration, Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, testing initiatives, team meetings, and other departmental or business needs.

Job Summary

The Software Development Engineer in Test I (SDET I) is an entry-level quality engineering role responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automated and manual testing solutions across Fleet Response applications. Working closely with Software Engineers, Senior SDETs, Product Owners, UX Designers, and business stakeholders, this role helps ensure software quality throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

As a member of an Agile development team, the SDET I assists with building and maintaining automated test frameworks, developing and executing manual and automated test plans, validating application functionality, and supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) initiatives. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow technical skills while working with modern testing tools, cloud technologies, and automation frameworks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop, maintain, debug, and execute automated test scripts for web and application testing.
  • Perform manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing across supported web, mobile, and enterprise applications to validate system functionality, identify defects, and ensure a high-quality user experience.
  • Assist Senior Software Development Engineers in Test with complex testing initiatives across multiple projects.
  • Support automated testing efforts for multiple software applications and business systems.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Owners, UX Designers, and business stakeholders throughout requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Assist in designing, developing, executing, and documenting test plans for behavior-driven, test-driven, hybrid, and functional testing frameworks.
  • Support functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, performance, and load testing initiatives.
  • Assist with implementing automated testing tools and frameworks within CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native environments.
  • Work with DevOps tools to enhance automated testing, dashboards, reporting, and scripting capabilities.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to identify testing needs early in each sprint and promote quality throughout the development process.
  • Participate in source code and automation code reviews.
  • Assist with installing, configuring, and supporting automated testing environments and solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to testing tools, automation frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
  • Continuously evaluate production behavior and recommend improvements to testing strategies and automation coverage.
  • Continuously learn new technologies, testing tools, frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Support multiple projects while effectively managing priorities and deadlines.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of software quality assurance or test automation experience.
  • Working knowledge of C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional and non-functional testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Selenium, Protractor, TestCafe, NUnit, JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar testing and automation tools.
  • Experience testing APIs, databases, or enterprise applications.
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, SVN, TFS, or similar source control tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred) or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git CI/CD pipelines, or other build automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Page Object Model (POM) design methodology.
  • Experience with Docker or other container technologies.
  • Familiarity with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Gherkin.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position generally working Monday through Friday.

This is a hybrid role based out of Fleet Response's corporate office in Hudson, Ohio. Employees are expected to work on-site as required to support collaboration, Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, testing initiatives, project meetings, and other departmental or business needs. Hybrid work opportunities are available in accordance with departmental guidelines and business requirements.
