About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of our software products, driving innovation, and mentoring junior members of the engineering team. You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end software development process and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet our clients' needs and industry standards.

Being a small but growing team, you will also need strong communication skills, work across the enterprise and have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

This is a full-time role based in Kansas City and we're currently operating in a flexible, hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Build a high performing team through understanding technical capability, individual motivations, and business vision
  • Understand capacity of the execution team to provide effective resourcing strategy for delivery - engage external resources as needed
  • Lead technical design, architecture, and execution of solutions
  • Building products in secure manner, complying with HIPAA or other security requirements
  • Connect to emerging technologies in the market

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience with strong software engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience leading technical projects or teams
  • Strong Object Oriented programming skills
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with website optimization, security, and SEO best practices
  • Manage server configurations and administration
  • Monitor server performance, security, and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance
  • Understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps principles and practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, Gravity Forms and LAMP stack technologies
  • Proficiency in server administration using cPanel and WHM
  • Experience working with Health Plans and Health Systems
  • Experience working in a Cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of data ingestion and warehousing practices
