OverviewThe Junior Software Engineer supports the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions that advance Peckham Industries' business objectives. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, this role contributes to software projects while developing technical expertise in application development, cloud technologies, and business systems. This position offers hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle and provides a strong foundation for career growth within the Technology team.

RequirementsRequirements, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0–2 years of software development experience through employment, internships, co-op programs, academic projects, or personal projects.
  • Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming and software development principles.
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and basic database design concepts.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is preferred.
  • Exposure to source control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of software testing concepts and debugging techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Capabilities and understanding of generative AI applications or frameworks for software development and testing
  • Experience with IoT, industrial automation, or PLC systems is a plus.

Travel:

On occasion the job will require going out in the field and various organizations and schools/institutions. This is mostly sedentary outside of travel in an office space. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bend or stand as necessary.
