PART I - SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION
This class is accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating training for Junior ROTC programs for the District. The position is responsible for developing training schedules and materials, providing in-service and professional development training for JROTC instructors, coordinating and planning co-curricular activities, and performing related work as assigned. The position works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
PART II - MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B. CREDENTIALS:
C. LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Employment in this class is conditional upon possession of a valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate and 210 Non-Senior Military Instructors or 310 JROTC Advanced Instructor endorsement(s) appropriate to the teaching assignment.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a current Motor Vehicle operator's license.

- Assists in ensuring uniformity and cohesiveness among all school JROTC units in accordance with current regulations and policies;
- Attends training, conferences and workshops as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills;
- Develops a master training schedule and weekly training schedules for each school year;
- Develops risk assessments for all training activities;
- Conducts safety briefings before all activities;
- Monitors and enforces safety controls;
- Develops, implements and evaluates JROTC training and professional development programs for JROTC instructors in accordance with District and US Army policies, procedures, rules and regulations;
- Establishes, maintains and updates databases of cadet records;
- Establishes, maintains and updates training records;
- Maintains knowledge of changes in JROTC curriculum;
- Notifies instructors of changes and trends in JROTC instruction;
- Orders and maintains curriculum materials;
- Performs routine administrative/office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes and e-mails, entering and retrieving computer data;
- Plans and coordinates District-wide co-curricular activities, including drill meets, marksmanship competitions, physical training and team-building events, academic knowledge competitions, parades and awards ceremonies, and summer camp;
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints in areas of responsibility;
- Performs related duties as required;
