Junior Healthcare Risk Manager RN

The Location: Falls Church, VA Falls Church is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia with a population of approximately 15,000. Falls Church is included in the Washington metropolitan area. Falls Church is a unique and historic city. The organization: The Military Health System (MHS)/Defense Heath Agency (DHA) is a global, comprehensive, integrated system that includes combat medical services, peacetime health care delivery, public health services, medical education and training, and medical research and development. The MHS currently includes 51 Inpatient Hospitals and Medical Centers, 424 Ambulatory Care and Occupational Health Clinics, and 248 Dental Clinics. The DHA supports the Combatant Commanders and Military Services to execute the Department of Defense (DoD) medical mission in peacetime and wartime. The DHA is responsible for the administrative functions of all Markets and Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) for budgeting, Information Technology (IT), administration and management, policies and procedures, and construction. In addition to these administrative functions the DHA is responsible for the coordination and delivery of healthcare throughout the MHS in support of DHA's Strategy Map DHA is active around the world, with military and civilian experts supporting military health operations at military hospitals and clinics, as well as dental and veterinary clinics.

Essential duties

  • Assists with the management of HQ, Market and Facility-level processes to ensure required healthcare risk management information is tracked, procured, evaluated and acted upon according to policy, law and regulation including event reporting and monitoring and processing of tort claim information, death and disability cases, and administrative and clinical adverse actions.
  • Assists with the identification and drafting of HQ level documents to include procedural manuals/instructions, decision memorandums and other documents needed to process adverse event and adverse action cases.
  • Assists with the preparation of reports and development of briefs to multiple stakeholders.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring and education to Markets and MTFs.

Requirements

  • Certification in HRM (ASHRM)
  • Maintains RN licensure
  • 10 years of experience in healthcare
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare risk management
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools
  • MHS/DHA experience preferred

Four-Year+ Contract (Initial 6 months with 4-12 month options). Location is Falls Church, VA with a possibility of remote.
