In the role of Senior Transportation Engineer, we'll count on you to:
  • Serve in the lead technical role in the detailed development of urban and rural roadway design projects
  • Perform quality assurance checks on major transportation projects on interstate and state highway systems
  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity
  • Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed
  • Assume some project management duties as needed and have a fair amount of client interaction
  • Supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support, advise, and train junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters of Science Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years design experience
  • Experience designing urban arterials, rural highways, intersections, freeways, and/or multi-level interchanges.
  • TxDOT Schematic and/or PS&E project experience
  • TxDOT pre-certifications
  • Municipality schematic and/or PS&E project experience
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designers (ORD), Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams
  • Project management skills desirable
  • Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
  • Must have coordinated survey, grading, drainage and utilities and layout of various site items is a plus
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
