POSITION SUMMARY:The Human Resources Intern supports the Association Human Resources Department by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, compliance, training, and special projects. This internship provides hands-on experience across multiple areas of human resources while developing professional skills in a collaborative nonprofit environment. The Human Resources Intern is expected to maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and customer service while supporting the YMCA's mission and values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Ozarks Regional YMCA strictly follows a zero-tolerance policy regarding child abuse & misconduct.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:โ€ข Assist the Human Resources Department with daily administrative functions, including maintaining personnel records, preparing employment documents, and ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of employee information.
โ€ข Support recruitment efforts by posting job openings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting with new hire onboarding activities.
โ€ข Assist with employment verifications, background check processing, I-9 administration, and other pre-employment activities under the direction of Human Resources staff.
โ€ข Support HR projects related to employee engagement, recognition, training, compliance, wellness initiatives, and organizational development.
โ€ข Assist with auditing personnel records, HRIS data, benefit enrollment information, and compliance documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
โ€ข Prepare reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other materials for Human Resources leadership and Association initiatives.
โ€ข Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, applicant, volunteer, and organizational information while exercising sound judgment and professionalism.
โ€ข Provide excellent customer service by responding to routine employee inquiries and directing more complex questions to appropriate Human Resources staff.
โ€ข Participate in cross-functional learning opportunities to gain exposure to talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, compensation, and organizational development within a nonprofit association environment.
โ€ข Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Preference may be given to students seeking academic credit for the internship.
โ€ข Proficient in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
โ€ข Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
โ€ข Must align with and demonstrate the YMCA four core values on a consistent basis.
