The Jr. Estimator focuses on quantity takeoffs, subcontractor and vendor quote tracking, document management, and data entry - laying the groundwork for growth into more independent estimating responsibilities.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES *

  • Use company estimating software and spreadsheet templates accurately and consistently.
  • Maintain and update internal cost databases, unit rates, and productivity benchmarks as directed.

  • Log and organize received quotes in the Coverage Tracker with accurate date, amount, and status entries.

Documentation & Process

  • Follow established bid templates and checklists without deviation.
  • Maintain organized bid files, version control, and document logs across active projects.
  • Ensure consistent use of company estimating tools, templates, and processes.
  • Understand the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and how individual tasks contribute to the full estimate.
  • Support bid-day preparation and submission, ensuring documentation completeness.

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Communicate progress and blockers proactively to the Sr. Estimator.
  • Ask clarifying questions before making assumptions on scope or data.
  • Support post-bid reviews and estimate handoff activities as directed.

Requirements:

  • Basic ability to read civil and electrical drawings.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under deadline pressure.
  • Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software.
  • Familiarity with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, AGtek or equivalent) preferred.
  • Exposure to construction document management tools a plus.

  • Client-facing communication — Director or Sr. Estimator responsibility.
  • Go/No-Go input or recommendation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / JOB CONDITIONS

  • Remote-first with travel to project sites as required by active bids and awarded projects.
  • Occasional travel to company headquarters in Enfield, Connecticut.
