Junior Accountant

Location: Downtown Houston, Texas - 100% Onsite
Job Summary

The Junior Accountant will support accounting and finance activities for ALTIVIA’s chemical manufacturing businesses and future acquisitions. This role is designed for an early-career accounting professional who is motivated, detail-oriented, and interested in developing skills across accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial analysis, and basic accounting. The Junior Accountant will assist with accurate financial reporting, organized recordkeeping, and day-to-day accounting support while working closely with the Accounting amp; Finance team.
Job Responsibilities
  • Process, record, and reconcile customer payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices in alignment with company policies.
  • Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and assist in resolving discrepancies with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support key aspects of the order-to-cash process for a growing manufacturing company.
  • Review and process supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and help resolve invoice, purchase order, receipt, and payment discrepancies with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Support payment runs, maintain accurate vendor records, and help ensure compliance with company purchasing and payment policies.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and performance analyses for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify trends and anomalies in financial data.
  • Assist with journal entries, account reconciliations, and other transactional accounting tasks.
  • Support audits by gathering necessary documentation and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with company policies.
  • Work closely with other accountants to support smooth workflow, process improvements, and team efficiency.
  • Participate in special projects and provide backup support for other roles as needed.

Requirements amp; Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or accounts receivable preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.
  • Basic understanding of GAAP principles and accounting best practices preferred.
  • Interest in pursuing a CPA or additional accounting certifications preferred.
