Technology Systems Developer

Full-Time

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Technology Systems Developer (Power Platform) expands the technology department's capacity to design, develop, and maintain business applications and data systems for the organization. This collaborative position focuses on improving organizational efficiency by automating high volumes of manual processes and streamlining data collection across diverse internal systems.

Focused on Power Platform and SharePoint development, this role works as part of an established team to support and enhance internal applications and workflows, with the adaptability to engage with relational databases and legacy systems and ensure solutions remain secure, documented, and sustainable. 

QUALIFICATIONS

 Required 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required. 

  • Previous Work-Related Experience: 35 years of work-related experience in Microsoft Power Platform (Apps) focusing on technical problem-solving and systems development. Professional experience building Power Apps/Automate solutions demonstrating strong analytical skills, systems thinking, and the ability to understand and improve complex business processes. 

  • Key Skills: Experience working across multiple departments or systems, especially roles requiring coordination, collaboration, or cross-functional problem-solving. Ability to work independently when direct supervision is not available, while staying aligned with team processes and project objectives. 

  • Previous Supervisory Experience: None 

Preferred 

  • Experience with Power BI, SQL and/or other relational databases, design systems/UX basics. 

  • Experience building PowerApps connected with SharePoint and/or Dataverse. 

  • Strong written/spoken communication; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives. 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Internal Business Systems Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom business applications primarily using Power Apps and SharePoint, focusing on user-friendly interfaces and reliable data collection. 

  • Act as a lateral team player to increase department capacity, assisting with a high volume of development tasks and maintenance requests alongside existing staff. 

  • Maintain a foundational understanding of SQL and Dataverse to support potential infrastructure shifts and ensure compatibility with diverse relational databases. 

Workflow Automation 

  • Build and manage automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline data routing, notifications, and approval processes. 

  • Demonstrate technical adaptability by researching and implementing emerging AI tools to enhance process efficiency and automation accuracy. 

  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing automated flows to reduce technical bottlenecks and manual intervention. 

Systems Maintenance & Legacy Support  

  • Provide ongoing support for established internal systems, ensuring high uptime and data integrity for legacy tools and relational databases. 

  • Conduct regular "health checks" on applications and workflows to ensure they remain sustainable as organizational needs evolve. 

  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation for all developed solutions to facilitate team-wide knowledge sharing. 

  • Design, structure, and manage SharePoint Lists used as back-end data sources for internal applications. 

  • Establish data relationships, lookup structures, versioning, and indexing strategies to ensure high performance. 

  • Integrate SharePoint with Power Apps, Power Automate, and other Microsoft 365 components. 

Collaborative Analysis & Team Coordination 

  • Work within established reporting structures to translate business requirements into functional specifications without working in isolation. 

  • Participate in team-based review cycles to ensure all development fits within the broader organizational systems architecture. 

  • Assist in user-acceptance testing (UAT) and training, ensuring solutions are practical and meet the needs of the various ESC departments.
