Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer (Jr.-Mid Levels)Department: EngineeringReports To: Director of EngineeringJob SummaryVanteon is openly seeking applicants for Embedded Software Engineer positions. Based on the applicant's level of experience, they may be classified as a Junior-level. In general, this role is responsible for performing embedded software design and implementation with the guidance of more senior staff.Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe following is a list of expected duties to be involved with the position. It is not fully inclusive, and additional ones may be assigned as determined by management:Support development of Requirement SpecificationsCreate other technical documentation, including design documents and development notes.Design and implement embedded software solutions, device drivers, and board support packagesProvide project estimates and technical support for the Sales ProcessRapidly understand and become proficient with existing code basesCollaborate with hardware and other engineers in design and integration efforts.Required Specialized Skills/KnowledgeEmbedded systems software for real-time bare-metal, RTOSs, and embedded Linux based systems.Multi-threaded programming, distributed design, device driver development, hardware level diagnostics, BIOS / Bootloader development and configuration, and interrupt handling.Proficient with C/C++ and able to work at the assembly level for embedded processors.Experience using embedded tools such as compilers, debuggers, ICE, EmulatorsHardware/software interface design experience (SPI, I2C, LVDS, DMA, etc.)Proven track record of successful product completion and deploymentExcellent writing, analytical, and verbal communication skillsHighly motivated, well-organized self-starterDesired SkillsLinux kernel driver and application software developmentLinux BSP bring-up on custom hardware platformsFPGA HDL and block design familiarityExperience with Python for automated test fixturingKnowledge of C/C++ and object-oriented design approaches to reusable software systems designKnowledge of common CI/CD tools and methodologies.Experience with UML design modeling and toolsExperience with common build management systems (make, etc.) and git version control systems.Education and Experience:· Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering· Preference to those with an MS and/or coop experience· 1-5 years of experience in embedded software developmentPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerBe able to perform low to moderately strenuous physical activities requiring standing, walking, and reaching.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.The physical demands described above represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
