We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Sweater Designer to lead the design and development of women's private label sweater collections. This role is responsible for creating trend-relevant, customer-focused sweater assortments that align with retailer needs, target customers, and price architecture.

The ideal candidate brings deep knitwear expertise, a strong eye for trend and detail, and the ability to translate ideas into production-ready product in a fast-paced private label environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Concept Development

  • Lead seasonal sweater design from concept through production handoff.

  • Research and interpret fashion trends, yarn developments, and knit techniques.

  • Develop trend boards, color stories, and knit direction tailored to retailer needs.

  • Design across categories including pullovers, cardigans, sweater dresses, novelty knits, and fashion basics.

  • Create detailed flat sketches and CADs that clearly communicate stitch patterns, gauge, and construction.

Retailer & Customer Focus

  • Design product aligned with retailer strategies, target customers, and price points.

  • Partner with merchandising to build cohesive assortments.

  • Present concepts and seasonal direction to internal teams and buyers.

  • Adapt designs based on feedback and evolving business needs.

Development Collaboration

  • Work closely with product development and overseas vendors to ensure design feasibility.

  • Review samples and provide clear comments on stitch execution, fit, and construction.

  • Participate in fittings and proto reviews.

  • Ensure designs meet quality, cost, and calendar expectations.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide guidance to junior designers or associates as needed.

  • Contribute to overall knitwear innovation and design direction.

  • Support a collaborative and solutions-oriented team environment.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.

  • 5-8+ years of sweater/knitwear design experience, preferably in women's private label.

  • Strong expertise in yarns, stitches, gauges, and knit construction.

  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Understanding of private label retail environments.

  • Ability to design within cost parameters.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

  • Strong organization and time management.

  • Experience working with overseas factories and development timelines.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • The approximate annual base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00. Theoffered salaryor salary range for this position will vary based on role requirements, skillsetand years of experience.
