Job description

Milwaukee Electronics is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to support our manufacturing operations in Canby, Oregon. In this role, you will be responsible for quoting and purchasing electronic components, fabricated materials, and indirect supplies needed to support production.

The Buyer will balance cost, quality, inventory, and delivery requirements while building strong supplier relationships and working closely with Customer Service, Engineering, Production, Quality, Accounting, and other cross-functional teams.

This is a full-time, 100% on-site position supporting the day-to-day needs of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quote and procure electronic components, fabricated parts, and indirect materials based on production demand, customer requirements, and engineering specifications.

  • Create, release, maintain, and manage purchase orders using the company’s ERP/MRP system.

  • Review open purchase orders and material requirements daily to support on-time delivery and uninterrupted production.

  • Proactively identify shortages, late orders and other supply constraints.

  • Expedite materials and coordinate recovery plans when necessary to prevent or minimize production delays.

  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers.

  • Monitor supplier performance related to pricing, delivery, quality, responsiveness, and service.

  • Partner with Customer Service, Engineering, Production, and Quality to resolve material shortages, specification questions, and supplier quality concerns.

  • Clearly communicate supply risks, delivery changes, and recommended actions to internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing, pricing, lead-time, and order-status information in the ERP system.

  • Coordinate inbound transportation and logistics when required.

  • Work with Accounting and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies, returns, credits, and receiving issues.

  • Participate in Lean and continuous-improvement activities within the supply chain.

  • Actively contribute to cross-functional problem-solving efforts and company projects.

  • Follow all company quality, safety, regulatory, and purchasing policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field required

  • One or more years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment may be considered in place of the education requirement.

  • Experience purchasing electronic components or working within the electronics manufacturing services industry is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or a comparable platform.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to organize and analyze purchasing data.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and understand purchasing requirements, part specifications, and bills of material.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate system data.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing production requirements.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Willingness and ability to complete company-provided IPC-A-610 training.

Work Environment

This position works on-site in a manufacturing environment and regularly interacts with production, warehouse, engineering, quality, and office personnel. The role requires frequent computer and ERP system use and may require occasional movement through production and material-storage areas.
