Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd. (TLR) has an exciting opportunity for an in-person, full-time, permanent Junior Operations Accountant based at our new corporate office in NE Calgary, Alberta. Our office offers convenient access, free parking, and is located next to the Calgary International Airport.

TLR is a 27-year-old family-owned property management and land acquisition company that supports its sister family business, BURNCO Rock Products Ltd. (BURNCO), a 114-year-old construction materials business.

Reporting directly to the VP, Finance, the Junior Operations Accountant will be analytical, self-motivated, proactive, and an excellent problem solver. You will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be comfortable supporting multiple companies and priorities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills will enable you to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, vendors, clients, and external partners. Your attention to detail, curiosity, and willingness to investigate and understand financial information will help ensure accurate and timely results. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a quarterly business review process to monitor financial performance with Senior Leadership and Facility Managers.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end tax workbooks and working papers for our annual PWC Review and work with these and other partners to resolve year-end queries in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and support the annual insurance renewal process for Canadian and U.S. locations, working with insurance providers to ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Complete quarterly operating cost reconciliations for properties, including utilities, repairs and maintenance, insurance, property taxes, common area costs, and other recoverable expenses.
  • Learn and support a complex financial consolidation process involving dual currencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reporting packages for Senior Leadership.

Requirements

Your Credentials:

  • CPA designation or in progress is an asset
  • Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization
  • Experience with Sage 50 is preferred
  • Experience with cross border multiple companies
  • Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
  • A keen interest in self and company improvement
