Job Summary:
Helion is a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. The Senior Network Engineer will architect and manage enterprise-level network systems, leading design initiatives and ensuring security and reliability of network operations.
Responsibilities:
• Architect and deploy LAN/WAN, VPN, and cloud-based network solutions to support business needs
• Monitor Fortinet based network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement enhancements to improve speed and reliability
• Configure and manage Fortinet firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls to safeguard network assets
• Resolve escalated network issues and provide Tier 3 support for complex problems
• Maintain detailed network diagrams, configuration records, and performance reports
• Lead network-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other IT systems
• Work closely with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, and vendors to ensure seamless operations
• Train and mentor junior network engineers and contribute to team development
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of network engineering experience
• Deep knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network hardware (Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper), and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with network security tools and protocols, including VPNs, firewalls, and NAC systems
• Strong problem-solving abilities (layers 2 & 3, WiFi setup and tuning) and capacity planning experience
Preferred:
• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certifications preferred
