Sr. Geotechnical Project Engineer

Job Description

We are growing and need an experienced Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our team.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning, managing and executing geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through construction. This role involves subsurface investigations, foundation design, slope stability analysis, earthwork recommendation and client coordination. Working with Project Managers, the engineer ensures technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and delivery within budget and schedule. Our largest markets currently are transportation and water/wastewater and we are expanding operations.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and oversee geotechnical field investigations (auger and SPT drilling, rock coring, sampling, CPT, test pits, etc.).

Perform engineering analyses including:

  • Shallow and deep foundation design
  • Axial and lateral capacity of deep foundations
  • Drivability of driven piles
  • Bearing resistance of shallow foundations
  • Settlement calculations
  • Slope stability
  • Retaining wall design
  • Ground improvement
  • Pavement design
  • Earthwork and compaction specifications

Interpret laboratory and field test results.

Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, calculations, and construction recommendations.

Manager project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.

Coordinate with clients, contractors, structural engineers, and regulatory agencies.

Provide construction-phase services including site visits, foundation observations, and field issue resolution.

Review and seal engineering documents (if licensed).

Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.


Minimum Requirements:

  • M.S. in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
  • Active PE license in GA, or ability to obtain a GA PE license within 6 months
  • 8+ years of Geotechnical experience
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Independent problem-solver with excellent organizational skills
  • Professionally work with colleagues, other departments and clients
  • Solid work ethics
  • Safety & Quality mindset

Preferred Requirements:

  • Heavy civil infrastructure portfolio (geotechnical engineering applied to transportation and water/wastewater markets). Pavement and Seismic geotechnical engineering are desired.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge on how to utilize software such as APile, LPile, GROUP, SHAFT, GeoStudio or Slide, and GRLWEAP
