Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer – P&ID Developer with 5–10 years of hands-on experience in developing and maintaining Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for industrial processes.

This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant system design across complex industrial environments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

P&ID Development

  • Create, update, and maintain accurate Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD P&ID) to represent piping systems, equipment, instrumentation, and control loops.
  • Develop detailed drawings including equipment symbols, instrument details, and piping layouts.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Translate engineering requirements into accurate P&ID documentation.
  • Clearly communicate design concepts and updates to team members.

Documentation & Change Management

  • Generate clear, organized, and revision-controlled P&ID documentation.
  • Track and manage design revisions and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Develop and maintain as-built P&IDs following construction or system modifications.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all P&IDs meet applicable safety regulations, industry codes, and project standards.
  • Review and validate drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain consistency with project goals and operational requirements.

Component & System Support

  • Assist engineers in selecting piping materials, valves, instruments, and related components.
  • Support system troubleshooting and documentation updates as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior designers or drafters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of mechanical design experience with strong focus on P&ID development.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD P&ID or similar design tools.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Industrial processes
    • Equipment and instrumentation systems
    • Control loops and piping systems
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in power generation, heavy industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance and industry code requirements.
