Responsibilities
- Read and evaluate project drawings and specifications to compile a detailed quantity take off for all bid items included in the project scope of work.
- Converting project drawings or civil engineer CAD files to 3D CAD models for earthwork calculations.
- Calculate different earthwork quantities (Mass Excavation, Over-excavation, cut/fill), structural excavation, structural backfill, and related excavation material.
- Update project takeoff per engineer issued addendums and clarifications.
- Area take-offs of the project (slopes, flats, etc.).
- Plotting and coloring detailed maps to distinguish between different pay quantities.
- Develop detailed volume reports and cut/fill maps for multiple project phases using earthwork software.
- Maintain take-off spreadsheets for organizing material description and quantities, back up of work, and summary of the project.
- Maintain a log of all bid plans, specifications, and revisions.
- Upload, manage, and distribute bid documents through a company file transfer protocol (FTP) website.
- Prepare and manage RFQ's to vendors and sub-contractors.
- Review construction notes to quantify the scope of work and specs.
- Performs additional assignments at the Director of Preconstruction's request.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associates degree in CAD or equivalent work experience in a construction environment is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to read and process documents such as contracts and subcontracts, statistical reports, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and fully understand project drawings, blueprints, specifications and RFQ's
- Ability to produce routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
- Ability to plot and scan drawings and other documents on company printers or plotters.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Skill in managing multiple projects with precision and speed.
- Basic understanding of pricing terms.
- Ability to maintain job or task focus in pressured or time-sensitive situations.
- Detail oriented and self-motivated.
- Must be willing to work overtime if required.
- Proficient in AutoCAD computer-aided drafting software.
- Working knowledge in AGTEK earthwork software.
- Understanding of Geotechnical and soil reports.
