Job description

MBI operates outpatient clinics specializing in acute injury care within an Occupational Medicine setting. Our services focus on treating occupational injuries. No chronic pain management! Our fully integrated EMR system enables providers to deliver high-quality patient care with minimal administrative responsibilities.

With 31 locations across Arizona, Colorado, California and Nevada, MBI offers significant opportunities for career growth in a stable and expanding healthcare environment. Successful candidates come from various medical backgrounds including Urgent Care, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Summary

Working in coordination with the other members of the Center Leadership Team and under the direction of the Regional Medical Directors, the Center Medical Director shall deliver the highest quality healthcare in an efficient, affordable, and caring manner. The Center Medical Director drives daily center execution, inspires colleague accountability to provide superb patient and employer experience, and is responsible for the assigned clinicโ€™s daily medical functions. The role combines broad vision with a critical eye for internal operations and quality assurance, contributing to the success of MBIโ€™s business strategy by ensuring medical operations meet key performance indicators, educating clinical staff, and helping drive business growth and retention at the Center level.

Job Duties and Qualifications
  • Deliver direct patient care in clinic and via telemedicine according to established clinical practice principles and the organizationโ€™s needs.
  • Ensure integrity of all clinical procedures, documentation, and maintenance of up-to-date protocols, including risk management.
  • Ensure day-to-day execution of quality care and customer and colleague satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with State Practice Act/Rules and Regulations and WC regulations.
  • Utilize evidence-based medicine with a focus on early intervention and patient empowerment.
  • Work with Regional & State Medical Directors to manage clinical staffing, scheduling, and operations to optimize patient outcomes and meet KPIs.
  • Execute Center goals to build customer loyalty; serve as primary contact for Employers/Clients regarding medical care of injured employees.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to employer client requests, including on-site tours and educational presentations.
  • Supervise pre-employment testing program, working with Sales and Clinic Administrator to facilitate new client setup.
Leadership & People Development
  • Lead the Medical Center alongside the Center Administrator, providing clinical and quality oversight.
  • Identify clinical improvement opportunities and collaborate with leadership to implement them.
  • Attend and co-lead weekly Clinic Leadership Team (CLT) meetings.
  • Assess strengths and development opportunities for medical providers; provide training and incentive plan information.
  • Foster a community of practice through peer-based learning and interaction.
  • Provide input into design and implementation of educational programs for patients, employers, and staff.
  • Shape the culture of the Medical Center by recognizing performance and encouraging progression.
  • Build trust within the clinical team; lead by example, making choices consistent with MBI ethical principles.
  • Facilitate resolution of interpersonal and performance issues at the Center.
  • Supervise with peer review of junior providers, periodic chart reviews, and feedback sessions.
  • Provide training to MA support staffโ€™s clinical skills.
Growth and Financial Analysis
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients and conduct onsite tours.
  • Review Center financial performance and KPIs with the Center Administrator, implementing action plans.
  • Work with Regional and State Medical Directors to understand financial aspects of clinic productivity.
  • Ensure level of service and coding are optimized for every visit with appropriate documentation.
Supervision
  • Hold supervisory responsibility for all Physicians, APPs, Radiology Techs, and Medical Assistants.
  • Conduct yearly written evaluations and modify individual job duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with Center Administrator for annual reviews of Medical Assistants and X-ray Technicians.
Requirements
  • MD/DO.
  • Unrestricted Arizona Medical Licensure with no active stipulations.
  • Active full DEA license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • FMCSA certified for DOT exams within 90 days of hire.
  • Board Certification in primary specialty preferred but not required (Occupational Med, Family Med, Internal Med, Emergency Med, PMR, Orthopedics).
  • MRO certification preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of occupational medicine practice and application.
  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing rehabilitation services, workerโ€™s compensation, and clinical procedures.
  • Working knowledge of medical office administration and procedures.
  • Ability to instruct, teach, and correct with a confident and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to perform treadmill stress tests (preferred).
