This role serves as the single point of technical accountability for delivery quality, architecture decisions, and client engagement throughout the period of performance.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of enterprise Linux engineering experience with deep, hands-on expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and architecture, Red Hat Satellite design and Day-2 operations, and Ansible Automation Platform. You will lead a lean, high-impact team through a six-milestone RHEL replatforming and Satellite implementation effort in a NERC CIP-governed environment, owning the technical approach from initial assessment through knowledge transfer.
What you will do:

  • Lead Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.x, 9.x, and 10.x upgrade initiatives, including troubleshooting, migration planning, risk mitigation, and implementation of greenfield deployment strategies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Red Hat Satellite 6.x architecture, including Capsule Server placement, content lifecycle management, patch management, and system provisioning strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership for enterprise Linux infrastructure modernization efforts, ensuring solutions align with security, scalability, performance, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance of Ansible automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and related engineering artifacts to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government stakeholders, program leadership, and the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), providing technical guidance, status updates, and recommendations.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers by promoting best practices, reviewing technical solutions, and developing reusable automation frameworks and engineering patterns.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain reusable automation solutions to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical challenges, develop solutions, and drive successful project execution.
  • Produce, maintain, and deliver technical documentation, including design documents, implementation plans, operational procedures, and project deliverables aligned with Statement of Work (SOW) requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance automation, infrastructure management, operational processes, and service delivery.

How success is measured:

You will be successful if you:

  • Deliver target-state architecture aligned to program and compliance requirements
  • Lead technical execution across all milestones (M1–M6)
  • Ensure successful deployment and operation of OpenShift and Red Hat platforms
  • Establish strong engineering and automation standards
  • Mentor the team and drive high performance
  • Identify and mitigate risks while communicating effectively with stakeholders

What you bring
We require:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive Linux / RHEL engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead, principal engineer, or architect capacity.
