Job Description
We need a Senior Linux Systems Administrator who will spend his/her time on 25% Plan, 45% Build, 30% Run activities for a mid-size (less than 300) environment consisting of clients/servers/specialized vehicle hardware. These activities involve stakeholders internal and external to Mercedes-Benz and across the US and in Germany. A variety of experience with Operations and Infrastructure will be helpful, but we emphasize Linux expertise coupled with Automation experience and a DevOps mindset. This role will be the Linux subject matter expert on the MBRDNA IT team but will work with highly skilled developers and vendors.
Non-technical skills & experience:
  • Ability to work with service architects/designers to establish an enterprise level Linux Service, with an emphasis on client work stations
  • Manage environment to ensure baseline standards for availability and security
  • Comfortable in a rapidly changing, complex environment with fast moving user/dev base
  • Communication with technical/non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaboration with international partners inside and outside of Mercedes
  • Collaboration with peer sysadmins, junior Linux support personnel, and developers
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous learning and experimentation
  • Evaluating new technology, coordinate implementation of new services, support
  • Lead process Design and Improvements
  • Creating and updating process documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing
  • Experience in working in DevOps/Agile environment
