Your Role:

You will be working alongside our System Engineering Team and other Software Engineers as they work toward improving tools that are used within the FAA. We are looking for a Software Engineer with an interest in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Compensation Range: $92,200 - $115,300
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in computer science, software engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years of related experience required

Required Skills:
  • Strong Java programming skills
  • Relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL
  • Strong LINUX environment skills including command line and scripting tools
  • Object Oriented Analysis and Design skills
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Abiltiy to travel (<10% domestic and international)

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with unit test frameworks (e.g. Junit, GTest, JTest)
  • Experience with software design patterns
  • Experience using UML
  • Experience with automated build systems (e.g. Maven, Bamboo, Gradle)
  • Aviation and Defense systems background/domain interest
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Development (Generative AI, LLMs, AI coding assistants, RAG, AI agents, prompt engineering, and AI MCP servers)
  • Experience with Ansible Automation and authoring playbooks and roles for installing, maintaining, or upgrading platforms
