Senior JAVA, API Developer

Can be located on-site in client offices in Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO.

@Orchard LLC has an immediate need for multiple Java (API) Developers to build robust, scalable APIs. As a senior API developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance APIs that power the system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and ensure scalability, reliability, and security of the APIs. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior developers, lead technical discussions, and drive the adoption of best practices and standards.
As the Sr. JAVA API Developer, you will:

  • Design, maintain, and implementation of API, microservices, and backend components.
  • Work with API developers across the team to build new features at large scale.
  • Improve API standards and services.
  • Develop and unit test Java RESTful services that integrate with external client systems.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and hands-on experience in DevOps tools like Jenkins, uDeploy, and GIT.
  • Review Design Documents and provide feedback on approach and estimates.
  • Create technical designs for new systems and modifications to existing systems.
  • Translate detailed requirements into functional system designs.
  • Prioritize work and meet deadlines, and also establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project team members, supervisors, and employees from other departments.
  • Work closely with internal and external design, business, and technical counterparts.
  • Research and recommend functional libraries to expedite development.

Your background will include:

  • At least 8+ years of overall experience in Java/J2EE development with REST API, Spring Boot, Angular, XML, JSON, and Swagger.
  • 8+ years of RESTful or SOAP web services.
  • 5+ years of Angular, CSS, JavaScript, HTML.
  • 5+ years of GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD server.
  • Working Knowledge and hands-on experience in DevOps tools like Jenkins, uDeploy, and GIT.
  • Knowledge of Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience in IBM MQ.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL
  • Experience writing unit tests for JavaScript code.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies for developing applications.

Compensation: Compensation ranges are determined by several factors, including skill set, experience, licensure and certifications, and location. The anticipated range for a base salary for this role is between $90K & $120K. There may be some flexibility for exceptionally qualified individuals.
