What does a junior Java programmer do?

A Junior Java Programmer is an entry-level software developer who specializes in writing, testing, and maintaining Java applications. They typically work under the supervision of senior developers, assisting with coding, debugging, and implementing features. Their tasks often include fixing bugs, participating in code reviews, and learning best practices in software development. This role is ideal for individuals who are new to programming and looking to gain practical experience in Java development within a team environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior Java programmer?

To thrive as a Junior Java Programmer, you need a solid understanding of Java fundamentals, object-oriented programming principles, and a relevant degree or coursework in computer science. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) like Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA, version control systems such as Git, and basic knowledge of build tools like Maven is typically expected. Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and good teamwork and communication skills help you stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for writing reliable code, collaborating effectively, and adapting quickly in a dynamic software development environment.

Job description

Senior QA Engineer

Experience: 10+ Years

Employment Type: W2 Contract only

< class="mt-2 -mb-1 text-base font-bold" dir="ltr">About the Role

We''re looking for a Senior QA Engineer who owns quality end-to-end โ€” not just someone who writes test cases. In a world where AI can generate test scripts, the value you bring is judgment: knowing what actually needs testing, catching what automated/AI-generated tests miss, spotting edge cases, and making the call on whether a release is safe to ship. You''ll set QA strategy, mentor engineers, and be the last line of defense before production.

< class="mt-2 -mb-1 text-base font-bold" dir="ltr">Key Responsibilities
  • Own quality strategy and release-readiness decisions across one or more product lines
  • Design and maintain scalable test automation frameworks (UI, API, integration, regression)
  • Apply risk-based testing โ€” prioritize what to test based on business/user impact, not just coverage numbers
  • Review and validate AI-generated test suites and code for gaps, false coverage, and blind spots
  • Build and maintain CI/CD-integrated test pipelines
  • Lead performance, security, and non-functional testing strategy
  • Mentor junior/mid-level QA engineers; establish QA best practices and standards
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps on quality gates and definition of done
  • For AI/ML-driven products: test for non-deterministic outputs, hallucination/bias detection, model accuracy and drift, in addition to standard functional/regression testing
  • Communicate quality risk clearly to stakeholders/leadership in business terms, not just bug counts
< class="mt-2 -mb-1 text-base font-bold" dir="ltr">Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years in QA/software testing, including 3+ years in a senior/lead capacity
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks: Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Solid experience with API testing (Postman, REST Assured) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with test management/defect tracking tools: Jira, TestRail, Zephyr
  • Strong grasp of performance testing (JMeter, k6) and/or security testing fundamentals
  • Cloud-native testing experience (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform environments, containerized apps)
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve AI-assisted/AI-generated testing output
  • Excellent written/verbal communication; able to translate technical risk into business impact
