In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, tools, and development methodologies to drive innovation.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications with a primary focus on backend services.

  • Develop and enhance Microservices, APIs, and application components using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native technologies.

  • Deliver high-quality software solutions that align with product roadmaps, business requirements, and architectural standards.

  • Design and implement integrations, data flows, and interconnected business processes across enterprise platforms.

  • Ensure application reliability, security, maintainability, and operational excellence through testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+13 yrs;Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise-grade applications with strong expertise in backend engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Microservices-based architectures.

  • Experience building cloud-native solutions using AWS services and modern distributed system design principles.

  • Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.

  • Experience developing modern web applications using React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. Angular knowledge is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of secure software development practices, API security, authentication, and authorization frameworks.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and unit/integration testing methodologies (JUnit, Mockito, etc.).

  • Exposure to serverless and event-driven architectures, including AWS Lambda, is preferred.

  • Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Strapi is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

  • Travel requirements: up to 10%
