Job description

Our Amentum Nuclear Programs is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy as well as commercial nuclear companies; we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup, production and power generation sites. Our services include engineering, construction management, consulting, program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, and nuclear operations.
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for leading the planning, design, permitting, and execution of land development projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. This role requires technical expertise, project leadership, and coordination with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective site development solutions.
Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
Technical & Design Leadership
  • Lead the planning and design of site development projects, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and roadway access
  • Prepare and review civil engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents
  • Ensuring designs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and standards
  • Provide quality control and technical oversight for work produced by junior engineers and designers

Discipline Project Management
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation
  • Develop project work plans, manpower estimates, and participate in proposal efforts
  • Coordinate with clients, Architects, Surveyors, Structural Engineers, Contractors, and other consultants throughout project development
  • Support construction administration services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits

Regulatory & Permitting
  • Lead permitting efforts and coordinate with local agencies, utilities, and regulatory bodies
  • Prepare and submit land development, zoning, and permitting applications
  • Address regulatory comments and support entitlement processes

Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, EITs, and CAD designers
  • Foster collaboration within project teams and across disciplines
  • Contribute to process improvements, standards development, and technical best practices

Client & Business Development Support
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide technical support during business development efforts
  • Assist with identifying new project opportunities and expanding existing client relationships
  • Represent the firm during client meetings and stakeholder engagements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on site development
  • Must be able to show proof of US citizenship (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
  • Strong working knowledge of site development design practices, permitting, and construction processes
  • Experience with stormwater management design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
  • Proficiency with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, or similar)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring staff and leading project teams
  • Experience with sustainable site design and low-impact development (LID) practices

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-base
  • Ability to perform site visits and walk construction sites
  • Occasional travel to client meetings or project locations
  • Occasional paid overtime to meet project deadlines

Compensation Details:
$109,000 - $175,000
