Job Summary / Purpose
The Automation Engineer, Senior is a key member of the Automation team within the AI organization. This role supports the design and development of software programs, scripts, and systems that automate identified tasks. Responsibilities include programming robots, developing software applications, configuring automation tools, analyzing processes to identify automation opportunities, and building end-to-end automated solutions.
The Automation Engineer, Senior will test developed automation solutions to ensure functionality and desired outcomes, integrate them into existing systems, train end users, and monitor ongoing performance. The role also includes troubleshooting issues, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring optimal performance and security of automated systems.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
• Develop best-in-practice automation products that meet strategic business requirements and enable additional value across business units.
• Participate in business process mapping to identify automation opportunities.
• Design, build, and test automation solutions to ensure they meet desired outcomes.
• Train users on new processes and automated solutions.
• Collaborate with senior automation engineers on advanced use cases.
• Continuously build knowledge to progress to advanced automation concepts.
• Make decisions with input from team members and provide effective status updates.
• Champion Entergy's AI efforts internally and externally, promoting collaboration and communication while supporting business-driven use cases.
Minimum Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
• 6-8 years of experience in RPA or automated script development with basic exposure to automation principles and tools.
Preferred Experience
• Experience working on cross-functional teams.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• 2+ years of experience in the electric or gas utility sector.
Technical Capabilities
• Strong proficiency in programming languages: Python, Java, C++, SQL
• Strong proficiency in automation tools such as PLC or RPA
