Senior Commercial Interior Designer

Location: Richmond, VA
Salary: $93,000–$107,000
Position: Full-Time
Relocation: Partial assistance available
Work Model: On-site initially, transitioning to hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Interior Designer to lead interior projects across a variety of professional and institutional environments. This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who can manage the design process, work directly with clients, and provide guidance to junior designers.

Please note: Commercial interior design experience is required. Residential-only experience will not meet the requirements for this position.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead commercial interior projects from early planning through construction.
  • Manage programming, space planning, and existing-condition assessments.
  • Develop and oversee construction documentation.
  • Guide furniture, material, and finish selections.
  • Prepare and deliver client design presentations.
  • Coordinate project activities during construction.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Mentor and support junior design professionals.
  • Contribute to repeat business and future project opportunities.

Main Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in commercial interior design is required.
  • Strong background in space planning and programming.
  • Experience producing and managing construction documents.
  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
  • Experience supporting projects through construction administration.
  • Ability to independently lead projects and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers.
  • Interest and ability to progress into greater leadership responsibility.
  • Must be able to work full-time from the Richmond office for the first six months.
  • After the initial period, schedule transitions to 3 days in office / 2 days remote.
