Startec Compression & Process is dedicated to providing innovative solutions to meet your unique challenges and opportunities.ย  We are an integrated project and engineering equipment fabricator specializing in the modularized design and packaging of process, refrigeration, and rotating equipment solutions. Most of our solutions are related to Energy Transition and carbon reduction industries.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).ย  The Instrumentation Technician will be able to install, support, and test tubing. Additionally, this role may be involved in interpreting technical drawings, preparing reports, and collaborating with other production staff to optimize system performance and reliability
Shift Schedule - 4:30-2:20 (4 days/week,10 hours/day). Overtime is as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Journeyperson certification in Instrumentation or a related trade.
  • Experienced (typically 5+ years) in instrumentation installation, supporting, and testing within a fabrication environment.
  • Experience working on compression and processing equipment packages is considered an asset.
  • Required to Pass a Functional Alcohol and Drug test prior to onboarding.
  • Required to pass Pneumatic Testing prior to onboarding.
  • Experience with the following is considered an asset:
    • >1โ€™โ€™ SS tube fabrication
    • Electric benders
    • ORFS tube assemblies
    • Tube fitting for welders
  • Well organized, excellent communication skills, and works well in a team environment.
  • Applicable tooling required
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
INSTRUMENTATION INSTALLATION & ASSEMBLY (Weighting 70%)Technical Proficiency and Execution
  • Tube Bending Experience.
  • Installation and mounting of instruments.
  • Factory Acceptance Testing/commissioning of flow meters, pressure gauges, etc.
  • Skid layout using P&IDs, GA's, and customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Pneumatic testing of tubing is required to ensure workmanship and quality
PROCESS MANAGEMENT (Weighting 20%)Operations Support
  • Prepare documentation per company standards, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Participate in Toolbox meetings, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation measures
Training and Mentorship
  • Share knowledge and mentor junior technicians
  • Assist in training programs and mentorship initiatives
COLLABORATION (Weighting 10%)Cross-functional Engagement
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for effective communication and task execution
  • Professionally interact with internal customers, vendors, and inspectors
