Group/Division

The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The KLA Services organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The instructor will be responsible to engage in training and development activities with senior instructors, product engineers, manufacturing engineers and PSO team members. The instructor has to master the technical know-how of the assigned tools, develop training material, build training plans, validate service documentation/procedures and deliver well-managed training to field engineers. This includes using new technology like augmented reality to develop and deliver training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop technical training on service, maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting.

  • Deliver high-quality service training to field service engineers, technical support engineers, install engineers and external customers.

  • Participate in tool building, manufacturing, field support, upgrades, installs, and other technical activities to master the technical know-how on the assigned product. Maintain a high level of technical skills and stay up to date on new product changes and updates.

  • Independently conduct and lead the review meetings and discussions with subject matter experts to define milestones, deliverables, and training plans.

  • Lead the assigned training projects; conduct reviews with stakeholders; provide regular updates to the stakeholders and functional groups; assess risks and actions; assesses efforts, time and resource requirements; maintains action trackers and project documentation.

  • Review engineering documentation, procedures, and specifications. Capture technical information into training documents. Develop well-organized training content and videos most appropriate to the target audience and create appropriate certification plans.

  • Learn and use new software and tools to develop high-quality videos, remote training, web-based modules, augment reality models and simulations to deliver highly engaging learning experiences.

  • Fully maintain the assigned tools or equipment in the best possible conditions all the time. Performs regular health checks, preventive and corrective maintenance and upgrades.

  • Follow and apply standard training design and development best practices, formats and templates.

  • Review and validate service procedures on the tool. Assess the need to update documentation.

  • Monitors the errors, mistakes, changes requested. Provide corrective feedback to technical writers and drive implementation of the changes in the documentation quickly.

  • Able to support afternoon/evening shift training schedule.

  • Business travel requirement ~ 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An engineering degree in optical, mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering

  • Or minimum 3 years of in-depth technical experience on semiconductor inspection or metrology equipment.

  • Proven track record of supporting a range of install, service, tool building, manufacturing or technical support activities on semiconductor system

  • Prior experience in conducting or supporting technical training, formally or informally, or mentoring junior engineers will be a plus.

  • Ability to communicate comfortably with international audience in English.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years' of related experience OR an associates' degree OR equivalent work related experience
