Position Summary
Provides equipment inspection services for static equipment, structures, and infrastructure to allow the Maintenance Department to cost-effectively achieve plant availability requirements, comply with all relevant statutory legislation, and meet the requirements of Methanex standards and procedures.
Responsible for providing the organization with inspection and engineering advice relating to static equipment inspections.
Position Responsibilities
  • Ensures resources are available to respond to Operations department and craft supervisor priorities to minimize production loss as required.
  • Inspects static equipment in the plant as required per the site's RBI program and identifies, develops, and implements any action necessary to rectify deficiencies.
  • Provides input into developing inspection best practices, standards and procedures for local and global deployment.
  • Provides appropriate reporting mechanisms that will identify existing and potential reliability issues and effective methods for ensuring timely communication of issues to the wider organization.
  • Assists the Reliability Supervisor with lifecycle evaluations of mechanical equipment to proactively determine, in a timely fashion, opportunities for dealing with equipment obsolescence.
  • Monitors local and international practices for asset inspection. Incorporate changes into Methanex systems where justified.
  • Works together with the Reliability Supervisor to ensure appropriate inspection plans are established.
  • Reviews scope of work to ensure accuracy and completeness before execution of the job.
  • Conducts Non-Destructive Test (NDT) methods (UT, MT, PT, RT and VT, etc.) as applicable and required.
  • Provides Welding guidelines and reviews welding procedure specifications.
  • Analysis and interpretation of field data to make decisions on inspections, tests required, repairs, etc.
  • Reads and interprets materials, such as work orders, inspection manuals, and blueprints to determine inspection and test procedures.
  • Coordinates and plans API inspection during Shutdown and Turnaround execution.
  • Helps to ensure contractor compliance with Methanex policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Acts as resource and mentor to more junior inspectors.
  • Establishing of and delivering high degree personal behaviors that demonstrate Excellence in Safety, Quality and Service for self and all direct reports.
  • High awareness of applicable Methanex policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provides updates and information to the Maintenance Supervisors that will continuously improve resource utilization.
  • Assists with supervising inspection work groups during turnarounds and shutdowns.
  • Contributes to the organizational vision of Global Methanol Leadership and as a team member demonstrates the core values of integrity, trust, respect and professionalism.
  • Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
  • Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
  • Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.
  • Contributes to the 'operational excellence' for Methanex USA as an effective member of the Maintenance department.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Manager.
Position Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Applicable Trade Certification desired.
  • 15+ years of experience in Chemical Manufacturing or related industry.
  • 10+ years Pressure Equipment Inspection experience, with knowledge of ASME Code, Section VIII
  • API 510, API 570 certification required.
  • API 653 certification considered an asset.
  • Experience with Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies and programs including software usage (Pinnacle AllAssets experience a plus).
  • 7+ years Maintenance experience, with knowledge of PSV and Piping inspections.
  • Experience as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Experience with NDT.
  • ASNT Level II qualifications would be an asset.
  • Proven experience on API inspection during Shutdown and Turnaround execution.
  • Experience with Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs.
  • Experience with reliability concepts and analysis methods.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience with RBI programs and software (Pinnalce AllAssets a plus).
  • Experience with ISO 9001.
  • Proven effective communicator across a wide range of people groups.
  • Able to effectively challenge traditional thinking and practices. Seeks innovative solutions.
