Job description

Description
Position available for one full-time junior research scientist to join my laboratory, studying the biology of the enteric nervous system (ENS) and the role of the gut and gut to brain signaling in brain-gut axis disorders. The candidates will work closely with the PI and other lab members in the design and implementation of experiments that use mouse genetic models to investigate the role of ENS and epithelial development in gastrointestinal function, motility, inflammatory bowel disease and mood and neurobehavioral disorders. This position requires a bright, self-motivated and organized individual who is quick to learn new techniques, and feels comfortable working independently as well as with others. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary. A minimum of a two-year commitment required.
Primary job responsibilities include performing experiments and maintaining the mouse colony (breeding, genotyping, and administering treatments to genetically-modified mice). Experiments will involve mouse dissection, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, immunoblotting , FACS, confocal microscopy, GI motility studies, studies to assess for nociception and behavioral studies. Other responsibilities will include ordering supplies, maintenance of stock reagents, and management of lab expenditures.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $40,000 to $47,500. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree. The ideal candidate will have spent some time in a basic science laboratory in the past and worked with mouse models or has a distinct desire to work with mice.

Preferred Qualifications:
