Job description

Summary

As part of Guidewire's Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization, the Product Configuration Tooling team builds and evolves the core Application Platform capabilities that power many of the world's leading P&C insurers. We focus on secure, scalable cloud services and tools that help customers configure and operate their insurance products efficiently, collaborating across global, diverse teams in a flexible hybrid environment. Our work blends modern web technologies, cloud-native patterns, and AI to deliver reliable, enterprise-grade solutions.
In this Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer role, you will design, build, and operate critical platform and configuration tooling that underpin Guidewire's cloud products and automation solutions, including Autopilot Workflow, Business Rules, Document Processing, and lifecycle administration experiences. You will apply modern engineering and AI-agentic development practices to create secure, performant services and UIs that accelerate customer time-to-value and platform adoption. This is an opportunity to solve complex technical problems at scale while directly contributing to PDO's FY26 priorities around operational excellence, AI-infused products, and data-driven cloud operations-and to Guidewire's broader mission of transforming how P&C insurers do business through digital, core, analytics, and AI.

Job Description

What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex features across the full stack (backend services and frontend applications) for Guidewire's core Application Platform and configuration tooling.

  • Apply agentic coding tools and support Guidewire's effort to dramatically accelerate development.

  • Engineer for quality, scalability, availability, and security in every aspect of the platform.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform capabilities that end-users love, supporting Guidewire's mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation.

  • Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

  • Continuously learn about P&C insurance domain concepts, cloud-native patterns, and AI capabilities to design innovative solutions that are technically sound and industry-relevant.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience building web applications or services across the stack, using at least one modern backend language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, or similar) and one modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue).

  • Strong proficiency in using Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Kotlin and ability to adjust or learn other languages if needed.

  • Experience with coding agentic environments (such as Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools) and automation tools.

  • Strong understanding of both relational and non-relational databases and data modeling; comfort writing or reviewing queries.

  • Experience building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

  • Previous experience building on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container-based deployment (Docker, Kubernetes) is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent ability to break down ambiguous problems, propose pragmatic solutions, and iterate quickly in a high-paced AI-assisted development environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines and geographies.

  • A learning mindset and openness to feedback; willingness to dive into new technologies, insurance domain concepts, and evolving AI and cloud capabilities.

Our Team and PDO Priorities
  • You will be part of the Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization emphasizing operational excellence, transformative innovation, and customer-centricity, with a strong focus on AI, cloud, and data platform adoption.

  • The work you do in product configuration tooling will support key PDO initiatives, including:

    • Driving adoption of cloud-native capabilities and improving platform reliability, security, and gross margin through better tooling and automation.

    • Ensuring that configuration and platform tools help customers quickly realize value from capabilities like Autopilot Workflow, Business Rules, Document Processing, and robust Application Lifecycle Management administrative interfaces.

Your Impact

We believe in clarity and setting you up for success. In your first months, you will onboard to our Application Platform and configuration tooling stack, pair with teammates to deliver incremental enhancements, and ship your first fullstack features into production that improve automation, usability, or reliability for our P&C customers. As you gain context, you'll own endtoend design and implementation of capabilities that help PDO meet its FY26 priorities-embedding GenAI into products, improving operational metrics, and driving adoption of cloudnative and data platform features that make our customers more efficient and reference-able. Over time, your work will influence how insurers configure products, automate workflows, and operate on Guidewire Cloud, shaping both the developer experience inside Guidewire and the daytoday experience of insurance professionals around the world while advancing Guidewire's mission to transform how P&C insurers do business through digital, core, analytics, and AI.

What's in it for you

The people we employ give their all, and in return, we offer flexibility wherever we can, such as:
