JUNIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST
Youngstown, OH
$70,000- $90,000

A growing, multi-location organization is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting or finance professional who wants to transition from a traditional accounting or public accounting environment into FP&A and corporate finance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, understand how the three financial statements work together, and be comfortable with the fundamentals of debits, credits, journal entries, and financial statement analysis. Experience in public accounting or audit is highly preferred.

OVERVIEW OF THE JUNIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST ROLE:

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and management reporting
  • Perform financial statement and variance analysis
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, profitability, and operating trends
  • Assist with monthly reporting and financial close-related analysis
  • Maintain and update financial models and Excel-based reporting tools
  • Help develop and track key performance indicators and business metrics
  • Research financial trends and identify areas requiring further analysis
  • Partner with Accounting and operational teams to gather and validate financial information
  • Assist with cash flow analysis and other financial planning activities
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
  • Assist with improving reporting processes and analytical tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JUNIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST POSITION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 1–3 years of accounting, audit, public accounting, or financial analysis experience
  • Public accounting or audit experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and fundamental accounting principles
  • Comfortable with debits, credits, journal entries, reconciliations, and account activity
  • Ability to understand how the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement interact
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work with large amounts of financial and operational data
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward the CPA is a plus
