Is 200,000 enough to work with a financial advisor?

For an independent financial planner, having $200,000 can be sufficient to start working with a financial advisor, especially if the advisor offers fee-based or hourly services. Many advisors set minimum investment requirements that vary, but clients with this amount can typically access personalized financial planning and investment management services. However, the scope of services and fees will depend on the advisor's policies and the complexity of your financial situation.

Can financial advisors make $500,000 a year?

Financial advisors, including independent financial planners, can earn $500,000 or more annually, especially those with extensive client bases, high-net-worth clients, or specialized expertise. Independent financial advisors typically earn a median annual salary of around $89,000, with total compensation often including commissions, fees, and bonuses. Earnings can vary based on experience, client base, and geographic location, with top advisors earning over $200,000 annually. Many advisors also hold certifications like the CFP to enhance earning potential.

Private financial planners, also known as independent financial advisors, typically earn a median annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $100,000, with top earners making over $200,000.
