NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Financial Analyst reports to the Finance Manager and serves as a strategic business partner to operational leaders across the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. This position supports financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, grant compliance, cash flow forecasting, and profit and loss (P&L) management. The analyst will evaluate financial and operational performance, identify opportunities to improve margins and efficiency, and provide actionable recommendations that support organizational goals and regulatory compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Partner with operational leaders to develop annual budgets and ongoing financial forecasts.
  • Support P&L management by monitoring revenue, expenses, margins, and key performance indicators across assigned business units and programs.
  • Develop cash flow forecasts and liquidity analyses to support organizational decision-making and financial planning.
  • Analyze financial and operational trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create meaningful financial reporting packages and dashboards for leadership.
  • Support grant compliance activities by monitoring grant requirements, maintaining documentation, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with funding restrictions and organizational policies.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist with audits, donor reporting, grant reporting, and compliance-related activities.
  • Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting methodologies to increase efficiency and transparency.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and modeling to support strategic initiatives and organizational objectives.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of financial, employee, and organizational information

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting, or closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude; a high degree of accuracy is required
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and visualize data
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change in a highly complex and fast paced environment
  • Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Ability to work across the organization
  • Strong customer-service / user-experience orientation

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • Experience supporting grant-funded programs and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cash forecasting, liquidity management, and financial modeling.
  • Experience managing or supporting P&L performance for programs, departments, or business units.
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • 3 years of relevant experience
