Job Description/Summary
Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Manual Test Engineer on an important, fast-paced, mission critical program. The selected candidate will perform component, integration, and system level testing by writing and executing system-level test procedures, evaluating changes made to software applications, and verifying defect corrective actions discovered during development, testing, and/or operational use. The selected candidate will join the existing Manual Test Team in support of a fast-paced, dynamic software development program. The Manual Test team is part of a test organization that includes teams that automate regression tests and maintain a complex testing framework and infrastructure. The selected individual will utilize basic system administration skills and will work with physical equipment in a test lab environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform system testing of components (modules) and integration testing through system and end-to-end evaluation.
  • Document test results for corrective actions, reporting, and audits.
  • Develop test methodologies and perform subsystem interface and software module testing.
  • Develop and implement test procedures and test reports.
  • Review test plans and define test acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and refine test data.
  • Identify interface requirements for software components.
  • Support the software configuration management process.
  • Provide system testing input for test procedures/documentation.
  • Assist the Software Development, System Engineering, Integration, Deployment, and Sustainment Teams with test-related tasking when necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline and at least 2 years of prior relevant work experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience/familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SLDC) and basic testing concepts (test cases, test plans, defect tracking, regression testing, etc.).
  • Experience in software testing, system administration, and/or quality assurance.
  • Experience executing test cases and documenting results clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to log, track, and retest defects using a bug-tracking tool (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Basic skills with SQL or data verification (e.g., validating results in a database or log files).
  • Experience working with physical hardware and equipment for software integration.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate clearly with other testers, developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow test scripts and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in formal test events such as Acceptance Test, User Acceptance Test, Software Final Release Test, Maintenance Release Test, etc..
  • Experience/familiarity with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience using automated test tools.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (i.e., Java, shell, Python, etc).
  • Experience working on an Agile program.
